JCPenney Hiring, JCPenney, JCPThe JCPenney hiring includes 38,000 seasonal employees that will work in its retail locations during the 2016 holiday season. The other 2,000 workers being hired will take care of online orders made through the company’s website.

JCPenney hiring for the 2015 holiday season included 30,000 employees. The retail company is hiring more seasonal employees this year to give its managers more control of the workforce. The extra hires will let those managers schedule more people as needed. The retailer is also carrying several new items this year and associates will be able to help customers with them.

JCPenney also said that it is interested in keeping some of the seasonal employees as permanent ones once the 2016 holiday season ends. This is due to the company planning to increase the number of supervisors in its stores.

JCPenney will be adding supervisors through promotions and it will need new workers to take over the supervisors’ previous positions. It’s unknown how many seasonal workers it kept from the 2015 holiday season, reports The Dallas Morning News.

JCPenney hiring extra employees for the holidays is a trend other retailers follow. Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) has announced plans to hire some 70,000 seasonal workers this year. Kohl’s Corporation (NYSE:KSS) is also looking to hire 69,000 employees for the 2016 holiday season.

It’s also not just retailers that will need extra help during the holidays. United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE:UPS) is looking to hire 95,000 seasonal employees in 2016.
