Facebook M is available through the company’s Messenger app for those in the San Francisco Bay area and it takes things a little further than Microsoft’s (MSFT) Cortana or Apple’s (AAPL) Siri. M has the ability to actually complete task for users. This means that it can do things such as order food, send gifts and more. These are things that Cortana and Siri aren’t capable of, reports Forbes.

The reason that Facebook M is able to handle more tasks than Cortana or Siri is that it isn’t just powered by artificial intelligence. Instead, M also has real people working with it to complete tasks for users. However, M may not see as much use as Cortana or Siri due to the Facebook Messenger app needing to be opened before it can be used, Forbes notes.

According to Computer World, Facebook M doesn’t use data collected from users to target them with ads. However, it’s unknown if this will change in the future as the virtual assistance expands to more areas.
