Google and Ford in Talks to Build Self-Driving Cars

Alphabet’s (GOOG,GOOGL) Google and Ford (F) are reportedly in talks to make a self-driving car together.

According to this report, Mark Fields, the CEO of Ford, will announce self-driving car plans with Google during the International Consumer Electronics Show being held next month. It’s known that the car maker will be at the event, but it hasn’t confirmed if this it what it will announce at it, reports USA Today.

Google has said that it’s interested in teaming up with an auto manufacturer for its self-driving car. John Krafcik. a former executive at Ford, has been hired as the head of Google’s elf-driving car project. The tech company’s Board of Directors also includes former Ford CEO Alan Mulally, USA Today notes.

Google and Ford aren’t the only companies looking into self-driving cars. General Motors (GM) is working on a self-driving Chevy VoltHyundai wants autonomous cars by 2030Baidu (BIDU) announced plans for a self-driving car earlier this year and Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk expects driverless cars to dominate the roads in the future.
