Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) (OTCMKTS:NTDOY) has announced that Pokemon Go Plus will be released on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016. The device allows trainers playing Pokemon Go to collect items from PokeStops and catch wild Pokemon without having to get their smartphones out of their pockets.

When it comes to PokeStops, players will be alerted to when they pass by one. This is done with a vibration and a blinking light from the device. Players can click a button in the middle of the watch-like accessory to collect items from the nearby PokeStop.

Catching Pokemon with Pokemon Go Plus works similar to PokeStops. The player will feel a slight vibration and see a flashing light when a Pokemon is close enough to be caught. They can then press the button in the middle of the device to throw a Pokeball and attempt to catch the Pokemon.

The big difference between catching Pokemon and collecting items from PokeStops is that there’s no guarantee the Pokemon will be caught. If the catch is successful, players will be alerted with a small vibration and flash of light. However, it can fail. Also, players can only use the device for catching Pokemon that they’ve already caught before. Players can check their Journal later to see what Pokemon they caught with the device.

Pokemon Go Plus will work with certain Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices running versions of iOS 8 or iOS 9. This includes the iPhone  5, 5c, 5s, SE, 6, 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus.

Compatibility with Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG,GOOGL) includes Android version 4.4 through 6.0. 2GB of RAM is required, as well as Bluetooth version 4.0 or higher.
