Not much is known about Facebook’s Phone app. However, it looks to be a dialer for Anroid devcies that could filter commonly blocked numbers. The social media company has confirmed it’s testing the app. It’s possible that it will work with more than just calls made via the social media platform, reports Forbes.

According to Forbes, it’s unlikely that Facebook is working on a Phone app for Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS devices. The company is likely trying to take over voice calls on mobile devices, much like it did with text messages when it acquired WhatsApp.

Facebook’s Phone app could be used by the company to better understand how its users communicate. The service has 1.39 billion users and many of them have their phone numbers listed on their profiles, reports The Los Angeles Times.
