NASA Captures First Color Image of Pluto

NASA has released the first color image of Pluto.

NASAThe picture was captured on April 9 and it shows the dwarf planet alongside Charon, its largest moon. A NASA space probe called New Horizons took the image.

The picture was taken about 71 million miles away from Pluto. The probe will get even closer in three months, snapping an image about 7,750 miles from its surface.

“In an unprecedented flyby this July, our knowledge of what the Pluto system is really like will expand exponentially and I have no doubt there will be exciting discoveries,” NASA wrote in a news release.
