Stocks are up today as investors react to ongoing economic struggles and rising treasury yields.

The big news that investors will note today is that the 10-year Treasury yield jumped above 5% for a brief period of time on Monday morning. That’s worth highlighting as it’s the first time this has happened since 2007.

While rising treasury yields are often a problem for the stock market, investors weren’t too bothered by the news today. The fact rates didn’t stick above 5% for longer is potentially easing investor concerns about the safety of these investments.

Also worth noting are the ongoing conflicts overseas. The Russia-Ukraine War is still ongoing as is the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Investors can also add continued budget arguments in Congress and the possibility of higher interest rates to the mix of news affecting the stock market today.

Let’s check out how the major stock indices are reacting to all of this news below!
